Edward Denslow was born in Wambrook, Somerset, England in 1887 to Edward Denslow and Harriet Knight.  He was the second eldest of seven sons and three daughters, Benjamin 1886, George born 1889, Gilbert John 1890, Albert 1892, Lily Kate 1896, Percy 1898, Lucy Annie 1900, Sam 1904 and Alice in 1909.  At the age of 13 he was a farm boy living with his family in Wambrook, Somerset but by the age of 19 he had emigrated to Brisbane, Australia on the RMS Ortona arriving on 15 August 1907.

By 1913 he was living on the Atherton Tablelands working as a labourer at Carrington Falls, Atherton and a miner at Zillmanton in the Chillagoe district.

On his enlistment in Cairns his age was 27 years 4 months, his occupation a Labourer and next of kin was his faher W.Denslow, Lansen, Wanbrook, Somerset. His height was  5 feet 7 inches,  weighed 161 pounds with a a dark complexion, grey eyes and black hair.  He was Church of England.

Edward Denslow embarked from Brisbane on 8 April 1915 on the Star of England and joined his battalion on the Gallipoli Peninsula on 2 June that year.  On 8 August 1915 he was reported missing in action.  A Court of Enquiry was convened in April the following year and it was ascertained that Private Denslow was killed in action on 8 August 1915. He is remembered at the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Canakkale Privince, Turkey.
