Leslie was the son of Harry Reuben and Vena Charlotte Clack born 12 March 1921 and was one of 3 children, Clifford Henry, Thelma May and Leslie Ronald.

Sergeant Leslie Clack was a member of the 228 Infantry Battalion, 24 Brigade, 9th Division.

Their training included unarmed combat and semaphore which was necessary when on the beach and training with water craft. Some of the places where they trained were Bramston (Beach), Port Douglas and Ellis Beach.

He died as the result of a road accident.
