Maurice was the son of Vivian George and Myra Narelle (Bailey) Cole, born 15 February 1923, he had an older sister Margaret Myra.  Both he and his sister were born when living in Brisbane. The family then moved back to New South Wales to live at Coogee.

When he enlisted in Tolga, North Queensland, he was residing in Coogee.

Craftsman Maurice Cole died of injuries.

Maurice Moriarty Cole’s name is on the Brisbane Roll of Honour, and also located  at panel 91; Supplementary panel 11 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
