Lindsay James Sutherland McColl was born in Goondiwindi, Queensland on 9 July 1920 to Lindsay Gordon and Susan Gibson (McIntyre) McColl and he had one brother, Adair.
Next of kin was his father, Lindsay McColl, on his enlistment form.
He was killed in an air crash outside of Cairns, with Brigadier Crawford and Lieutenant Morris. They were flying up Freshwater Valley, when the port wing struck the top of a tree and the plane crashed while attempting to climb out of the valley.
Lindsay James McColl’s name is on the Goondiwindi Roll of Honour board and also located at panel 112 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
