Following on from the research and publishing of the stories of the WW1 service men and woman on the Cairns Cenotaph, it was discovered that there were many more soldiers with a connection to the Cairns area who were not remembered on the Cairns Cenotaph.

Their names were collated from the Honour Board in the RSL Museum and their stories have now been written.  Some had very tenuous connections to the area, some were born and raised here, but they all deserve to be remembered.

Here is their story.  Most have been relatively easy to identify, although names were slightly different on the Honour Board to the names on the War Memorial database. Stories and Research conducted by Kesley Court.

Others have proven to be very difficult to identify.  They are listed here and if anyone can identify a possible ancestor, please let us know by contacting us via email – researchteam@cdfhs.org
