James was the son of William Alfred James and Ellen Kathrine (McKenzie) Caskey, born 12 August 1917 and was living in Dry Creek, South Australia. He died of injuries received in a road accident.

James Alfred Caskey’s name is located at panel 36 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
