Reginald, the son of Thomas Henry and Elizabeth Jane (Richardson) Gilchrist was born 24 March 1921.

On his enlistment form his height was 5 feet 10¾ inches with light brown eyes and light brown hair.

Private Reginald Gilchrist was killed when riding a motor-cycle when it collided with a truck near the Edge Hill Railway Crossing.  His pillion rider, Private Caskey, was also killed.

Private Reginald Boyd Gilchrist’s name is on the Gympie Roll of Honour and also located at panel 36 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
