Robert was born 13 August 1922 in Croydon, New South Wales to Richard and Nellie Ellen (Ward) Hinchey. 

He enlisted 20 April 1943 in Greta, New South Wales, and gave his mother Mrs Nellie Elizabeth Hinchey, 19 Linthorne Ave, Enfield, New South Wales, as his next of kin.

Corporal Hinchey died as the result of a road accident at Red Hill, White Rock, North Queensland. 

Robert Bruce Hinchey’s name is on Burwood Roll of Honour board and also located at panel 82 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
