William David Kirkpatrick was born 14 October 1921 in Coonamble, New South Wales to David Alexander and Elizabeth Esther Grace (Peebles) Kirkpatrick.  His brother Mervyn Stewart, born 1923, also served in the war.

He enlisted 1 December 1942 at Rutherford New South Wales and his next of kin was his father, David. His occupation was a bank officer.

William’s cause of death was suffocation due to drowning at Redlynch.

William David Kirkpatrick’s name is on Coonamble Roll of Honour board and also located at panel 87 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
