Leslie Reginald Read Moran was born on the 10 January 1922, Caringbah, New South Wales to Leslie and Lenore Millicent (Read) Moran.   He enlisted in Sydney and his religion was Roman Catholic.

In 1943 he married Constance Margaret Voight, in Lithgow New South Wales and had one son.

While on duty in the engine build-up shop at No. 8 Wharf Cairns, using an electric valve grinding machine, Leslie sustained an electric shock when he turned the machine on, which caused his death.

Reginald Leslie Read Moran’s name is on Lithgow Roll of Honour board and is  located at panel 103 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
