Lieutenant Arthur William Morris

Arthur was born 4 January 1922, Hay, New South Wales to William Thomas and Edith Janet Windsor (Finch) Morris, he had three siblings.

He enlisted 27 February 1942 in Duntroon, Canberra and gave his next of kin, his father Mr. W. T. Morris, religion was Presbyterian, his occupation was given as a permanent soldier.

Arthur was killed in an air crash outside of Cairns, with Brigadier Crawford and Sergeant McColl. They were flying up Freshwater Valley, and the port wing struck the top of a tree and the plane crashed while attempting to climb out of the valley.

Arthur William Morris’s name is on Hay Roll of Honour board and is located at panel 12 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
