Allan Sydney Ryce was born 17 September 1918, Perth, Western Australia and his parents were George and Violet Lillian Ryce, his known siblings were George, Connie and Gavin.

On his enlistment his religion was Methodist, occupation a miner, his height was 5 feet 8½ inches, with fair hair, blue eyes and fair complexion.

He served on H.M.A.S Cerberus, Perth and Stuart.

Stoker Allan Ryce died of second degree scalds and primary shock following a burst steam pipe  in the boiler room of HMAS Stuart.

Allan Sydney Ryce’s name is on Guildford Roll of Honour board and also located at panel 6 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
