Harold John Thorn was born 5 September 1908 to John and Emma Jane (Drought) Thorn in Broken Hill, New South Wales, he had three siblings, Winifred born 1895, George 1900 and Marjorie in 1904.

Harold married Eva Isabel Clark in 1930 in Broken Hill, New South Wales. They had five children.

He enlisted on the 28 January 1943 in Keswick, South Australia and his next of kin was his wife, Eva.

Records state he died of injuries.

Harold John Thorn’s name is on the Adelaide Roll of Honour board and also located at panel 85 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
