John David Weatherhead was born 7 October 1918 in Sydney, New South Wales, to Gerald Hinton and Muriel Linda (Meadows) Weatherhead. He had a sister, Joyce, born 1917. 

He enlisted in Paddington New South Wales and his next of kin was his mother, Muriel.

In the 1941 electoral roll it has John living at Heathcote, with his mother, and his occupation a clerk.

John served in the Middle East and New Guinea. His death is recorded as accidental.

John David Hinton Weatherhead’s name is on Sydney Roll of Honour board and also located at panel 24 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
