Eric was born 12 June 1920 at Loch, Victoria, Australia to Herbert and Charlott (Charlet) May(Coxen) Young. His occupation was a shop assistant, his height was 5 feet 9 inches with brown hair, green eyes and fresh complexion. Next of kin was his mother, Charlotte and his religion was C of E.
He served on the Cerberus, Pengula, Perth, and Stuart.
Eric John Young died as a result of second degree scalds suffered while serving on HMAS Stuart.
Eric John Young’s name is on the Mornington Roll of Honour board and also located at panel 6 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
