Frank Percival Young was born 13 July 1902 in Victoria, Australia, to Charles Arthur and Emma (Fielding) Young and was one of nine children. His siblings were Thomas Arthur Leslie born 1890, Harold Ernest 1891, Vivian Claude 1892, Myrtle May 1894, Albert Ernest 1896, Dorothy Evelyn 1899, Edith Stella 1901, and Percival Stanley born 1905.

He married Elsie Gladys Buckingham in 1926 and they had one son.

Frank Percival Young first enlisted in the army and served from 2 March 1942 to the 28 July 1943, he then discharged from the army and enlisted in the navy in August 1943.

His occupation at the time of his enlistment in August 1943 was a woodworker and he was mobilized to Flinders Naval Depot. His height was 5 feet 6 inches with dark brown hair, brown eyes and fresh complexion. Next of kin was his wife Elsie Gladys Young of 199 Blyth Street East, Brunswick, Victoria.

He served on the H.M.A.S. Cerberus from 2 Aug 1943 to 31 December 1943.

Frank Percival Young was riding a motorcycle on the Cook Highway when he collided with a military truck and was killed.

Frank Percival Young’s name is on the Brunswick Roll of Honour board and also located at panel 6 in the Commemorative Area at the Australian War Memorial.
