Albert Kenneth HEALY

Albert Kenneth Healy was born 18 June 1894 to Phillip Shaw Healy and Annie Hodgson Smith and the youngest of 14 children.  Mary Isabell Fraser born 1872, Ethel Eliza 1873, Bertha Augusta 1874, Gertrude Francis, 1876, Clara June 1878, Philip Ernest 1880, Jeremiah Charles 1882, Elenor Grace 1882, Alexander Fletcher 1884, Oscar Stanley 1886, Wilfred Cecil 1888, Annie May 1890, Jack Galloway 1892 and then Albert Kenneth 1894.

Albert’s father died in 1904, his brother Jack Galloway served in the war and was killed in action 11 April 1917.

On his enlistment in Cairns, Albert states he was born in Percyville, Queensland, his age was 21 years 8 months, occupation a miner and next of kin his mother, Mrs Annie Healy, Wolfram, Queensland.  His height was 5 feet 10 inches, weighed 1578 pounds with fair complexion, grey eyes and light brown hair.  His religion was Church of England.

After disembarking he was taken to hospital sick on 3 November 1916, returned to duties and again spent time in hospital during April 1917 to June 1917.  Rejoined his Battalion in Belgium on the 29 June 1917 and was once again admitted to hospital sick 21 December 1917. Albert had also attained the rank of Corporal but reverted to Private at his own request.  After rejoining his Battalion he was awarded the Military Medal on the 6 May 1918.

Albert Kenneth Healy was killed in action in France on the 8 August 1918 and is remembered on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, Picardie, France.
