Frank James Knox, known as Thomas James Knox was born in Tolga on the 1 June 1895 to Thomas Knox and Annie Kerr. He had one sister Clementine born 1896. Annie Kerr had been married previously to John Rogan who died in 1890 and had 4 children, Richard born 1883 died 1883, Mary Agnes 1887, Thomas born 1888 died 1889, John born c1882, Annie born 1890 died 1890.
On his enlistment in Cairns his age was 21 years 4 months, occupation Railway Fireman, next of kin his father Mr Thomas Knox, Tolga North Queensland. His height was 6 feet 1 ½ inches, weighed 157 pounds with fresh complexion, blue eyes and black hair. His religion was Roman Catholic. He had been rejected previously because of bad feet.
Thomas James Knox was killed in action in France on the 23 August 1918 and buried in Heath Cemetery, Harbonnieres, France.
