Membership

JOIN or RENEW online

  • Single Membership – $55 per single
  • Family Membership – $70 per family (up to 2 adults, plus children under 18, all at the same address)
  • Student Membership – $20 per student (full-time, aged under 25)

    Membership is for 1 year from the date your transaction is processed.  If you renew early, 1 year will be automatically added on to the end of your current membership expiry date.

Member Benefits

Members who live in the Cairns Regional Council area:

  • Free access to our Resource Centre (only during regular Opening Hours)
  • Expert assistance with your family history and research problems
  • Free use of our extensive library of books, journals, CDROMs, maps (many library items can be borrowed)
  • Access to online subscription databases i.e. Ancestry, Find my past, British Newspaper Archive
  • DNA Interest Group and DNA Drop-In Genealogy Clinic for ongoing assistance with your results
  • Presentations by specialist speakers, education sessions and workshops
  • Add your names to the Members Surname interest list by completing this Members Surname Research Form
  • If you are unable to access the Library for reasons of impairment or health, as a member you are entitled to 1 hour FREE research per membership year
  • Consider becoming a volunteer by completing this CDFHS Volunteer Template

Members who live outside the Cairns Regional Council area:

  • 3 hours FREE research per membership year
    access to our Family History Centre when you visit Cairns
  • Online access to our Library Catalogue
  • Access to members’ only area of the website

To JOIN or RENEW online...

You can join or renew online right now, and either pay instantly via PayPal or credit card, or pay later by cash, cheque or bank transfer.  Select the relevant membership:  Single Membership, Family Membership or Student Membership, complete the form and submit it.  If you pay via Paypal or credit card, you can login to our Member-Only area immediately after payment.  If you select to pay manually, your transaction will be completed once the Treasurer confirms receipt of your payment.

To join or renew using the printed form, download our Membership Form, and return it to the Cairns Family History Centre or email it to membership@cdfhs.org.  Payment can be made via cash, cheque or bank transfer – all details are on the form.
