“Ghost walks return to life” in Cairns with Shadows of the Past dramatised evening tours of the McLeod Street Pioneer Cemetery. The event features 12 stories of the lives and deaths of the Cairns pioneers buried there. The cast of ghosts floating around and speaking their stories, or the stories of their loved ones, will take the audience back in time. The performance will be accompanied by the evocative music of Cairns Brass.
The following article and photo appeared in the Cairns Post, 25th June. The photograph features actor Marylynne Whitaker who plays the role of Agnes Gentles, one of the ghosts who will be telling her story during the performance.
Thank you to Marylynne and also Megan and Justin from the Cairns Post who braved the mozzies and the rain. All showed a great deal of patience while at the same time appeared to have a great time putting this article together for publication.
A special thank you to Megan who has written a beautiful piece about Cairns & District Family History Society’s Shadows of the Past.
Shadows of the Past dramatised evening tours can be booked through trybookings.
For further information about Shadows of the Past see Calendar of Events and Cemetery Walks.

Hi Jo, Thanks for your message. The night-time tours are only done once per year usually during July-August, but keep an eye on our Calendar of Events and Facebook page, as we are hoping to start some more regular day-time walks soon. There is also a contact email address on the Cemetery Walks page that you could use to enquire further… https://cdfhs.org/services/projects/cemetery-walks/

Hello Lisa
I did reply to you personally, but just to say on this blog, we will put your name on our list for early notification.
Hello, My wife and I will be in Port Douglas in May 2017. Do you have a tour operating then?
Hi Aaron,
I am sorry but we only hold the walks during July/August each year over a 4 week period and at this time there is no one else providing such walks.
